Get Involved with CHW!
We want you to become involved! Children's Helpers Worldwide is pleased to say that anyone can become a Children's Helper!
We support organisations helping children who very much need it, in different parts of the world. You can see the countries where we have projects in the “Where We Work” section of our site. From these you will be able to see exactly how we aim to help the children and can decide how you would like to get involved. There are so many ways you can help make a difference to these children's lives, from giving your time to arrange a fundraising event, to making a donation. Click on the links on the left to see more details about how you could get involved.
Make a Financial Donation:
We fundraise for appeals sent to us from the locally run children’s programmes we work with overseas. Some of the appeals have a target amount, for example when funds are needed for building a classroom, or building a playground. Other needs are ongoing, such as donating towards food for children at an orphanage or crèche.
If you decide to support one of our current appeals, we will keep you updated with that project. It is possible to give either a one-off donation or to make continuous contributions. Regular contributions can support a particular ongoing project of your choice, or you can leave it to us to allocate your donation to one of the current appeals, wherever it is most needed. We will always give you news from the projects that your contributions support. To make a donation, please go to our donation page, or contact Catherine at catherine@chworldwide for further information.
Sponsor a Child:
We have set up a sponsorship scheme with one of the orphanages we work with in Ghana. Just fifteen pounds per month can provide food for a child. If you are able to give more, it will go towards school items and clothes for the child. You will receive information and photos of the child you are helping. Any time one of our volunteers visits the orphanage, she or he will bring back a letter from the child you are sponsoring.
You can help children, just like Derrick, by becoming a sponsor
If you would like to sponsor a child, please email Catherine on catherine@chworldwide.org so she can set this up for you.
Other Donations:
For some of our projects, it would be really great to have donations of items. For example, we are linked with the Shanghai Bo Ai Children's Rehabilitation Centre, which needs equipment that is not easily available in China. To read more about the Centre and its needs, please go to the China section. In Romania, one of the organisations, FAST, runs a music project, and it would be great to have donations of children’s recorders, and other instruments. There is more information about FAST in the Romania section.
From time to time, we also arrange collections of clothes, toys, or school items for distribution to our projects. Whenever we are running a collection, it will be advertised here, so keep checking back! Shipping costs can be high, so we usually only run collections if a volunteer is going to a project, and can take the items there.
Some of the local organisations we support would be happy to receive items if you are travelling to where they are based. If you are going to any of the countries we work in and would like to take donated items, please contact us, as it may be possible to set this up.
Volunteer:
Every person working with Children's Helpers Worldwide is a volunteer, and we are always looking for more people who want to help. Do you want to join us in helping children all over the world?

We always need help when we are running a fundraising event. If you would like to volunteer, please let us know! We are based in London, and also have a fundraising branch in Germany. If you want to know what fundraising events are coming up in the UK, please email Catherine at catherine@chworldwide.org. If you want to know about fundraising our events in Germany, please email Jana at jana@chworldwide.org.
We would also love to hear from people who would be willing to hold their own fundraising events for us. Running a fundraiser is very rewarding, and you get to help the children from around the world, as well as having a good time yourself! After the fundraiser, we would keep you updated with news and photos from the project you supported.
Here are some ideas for fundraisers, which we have held in the past. To fundraise towards building a playground at a Ghanaian orphanage, some students from Aberystwyth came up with the idea of packing shoppers' bags at a local supermarket. In return, the shoppers would make a small donation. In one afternoon, they had raised nearly a third of the money needed to build the playground!

Other past fundraisers have included holding a children's fun day, arranging a clothes swap, running a coin collection, holding a charity concert and arranging a charity dinner. We always want to hear about new ideas for fundraising too.
International Volunteering

Jess volunteering in Romania
Children’s Helpers Worldwide itself does not have a programme for volunteers to help abroad. However we can put you in touch with the local organisations we support. Some of these organisations run their own volunteer schemes. These include: New Life International Children’s Home, Ghana, Sankofa Mbofra Fie, Ghana, The Future Factory, South Africa (it is also possible to volunteer at Seawind Educare through the Future Factory's programmes), the Sarah Fox Children’s Convalescent Hospital, South Africa and FAST, Romania. It may be possible to volunteer with some of the other organisations too. Please email Catherine at catherine@chworldwide.org for further details. We can give you more information on your chosen project. Please note, the information packs and prices have been given to us by the local organisations, and are independent of Children’s Helpers Worldwide.
