Argentina

We work with a school in Argentina, in Unquillo, and also with an organisation called Bethel, which is based just outside Cordoba. It provides homes for orphaned and abandoned children.

School Children

Florentino Ameghino School is located in a poor area of Unquillo, in the province of Cordoba. It is attended by local children, including many from a nearby orphanage.

Cecilia Gonzalez Biatturi is a teacher there and made the link with CHW to support the project to improve the facilities at the school. She also participates in meetings within the local municipality to promote children’s rights. She is pictured below, with some of the schoolchildren.

We hope to fundraise for better facilities for the school – from simple things like pens and pencils to larger things like blackboards, heaters and music equipment. All of this will enhance the children's education. A good education gives children the best possible start to life. You can make a difference to the lives of these children by helping to support this school.

Bethel

Bethel, started by Father Lucchese in 1962, has been home to children who have been orphaned or abandoned ever since. The aim of Bethel is to give these children a family home, and for them to grow up to become independent, contributing members of society. Bethel consists of eighteen houses, where children live depending on their ages and whether they are girls or boys.

There are three houses for children with disabilities. If the children are unable to look after themselves as adults, Bethel will still care for them too.

CHW would like to contribute towards various projects at Bethel, including buying medical equipment for House 5, one of the houses caring for children with disabilities, as well as fundraising for the needs of other Houses. House 6 also runs a school for children with mental and physical disabilities. Providing the school with a computer and other electronic equipment will help it run more efficiently. We want to fundraise for this. However, if any organisations which donate computers could help, this would be great too.
